“I was in Nepal with two other members (Marie and Martine) of the Ecoliers du Monde association to launch the school year.
The 25 avril 2015 the first earthquake of magnitude 7,8 surprised us in the middle of the day and we immediately found ourselves in the middle of rubble and in the heart of collective panic.
A reflex, flee the city center to reach the countryside then set up temporary accommodation under a tent to avoid the consequences of aftershocks. Safe and sound yes, but definitely marked and shocked by what we saw and felt.
In a short time, Nepal has experienced 2 major earthquakes 25 April then 12 May and more 300 replicas from.
Destabilized soils and the first rains of the monsoon generated more than 3000 landslides engulfing entire villages and depriving access to relief. Many villages are completely destroyed. These are approximately 8 500 000 people who are impacted by these events and find themselves homeless, or a little more than a third of the country's population. The human toll is approximately 8 700 currently dead. It is feared that the monsoon, makes this sad record even worse.”
