Kabita's family lives in the small village of Bitakarka in the Solu region of Nepal.
The village is located approximately 2500 m altitude and is far from cities.
Families live almost self-sufficiently with very few resources.
Kabita has a little brother and a little sister. Only the dad works at the task in the lumbering.
The family lives in a small house made of wood and sheet metal with a single main room.. There is no running water or toilets.
We met Martine and Marc the President well before knowing the Ecoliers du Monde association and little by little we forged links.
We have always sought to help humanitarian associations and quite naturally we became members of the Ecoliers du Monde association in 2010, then active members before joining the Board of Directors.
On 2011, returning from a trip to Solu, Marc presented us with Kabita's situation and his family's wish to provide him with a good education., but it was not possible there and the family did not have the necessary means.
Schooling Kabita, the eldest of the siblings, would allow him to have a better level of education and to learn English, which would later ensure that he would find interesting and paid work…and to directly or indirectly ensure financial security for the family.
We then decided to take an individual sponsorship to help Kabita.
After discussion with the family, Kabita's schooling is offered in the Brikuti school in Kathmandu where his uncle's family lives who can accommodate him if necessary.
On 2013, Marc organizes a trek that passes through Pike Peak at more than 4000 m of altitude to connect Kathmandu to the village of Bittakarka.
Kabita who returned to her family for the school holidays, is pleased to join us along the way.
This first meeting is very moving for everyone, but not that easy, because if we know a little about its history, his family, his activities and academic results, what does she know about us ?
What is his vision of us?, European, who can we pay for a trip to Nepal?
Kabita is shy and his knowledge of the English language is not sufficient to hold a conversation. It's very frustrating for us to have to go through a translator every time and probably very intimidating for her.
However, we get to know each other and walk two days together to arrive at his village where the families give us a very warm welcome..
Limited means, a simple life in the countryside, but lots of smiles and human warmth.
We meet his parents, of his little brother and his little sister and his grandparents.
Back, we have the pleasure of following Kabita’s educational progress, until the day her father decided to take her out of Bhrikuti to bring her back to the village.
This is a big disappointment on our part, because we do not know exactly the reasons for this decision, and that it is impossible for us to discuss directly with her or her family due to lack of modern means of communication.
We only know that she is doing well and that she continued a more traditional schooling near her village..
It is true that we had a lot of questions about our role as godfather and godmother., but that we decided to finance the education of another young girl again, Sarina.
