GORAKHNATH SECONDARY SCHOOL is located in Kirtipur in the Kathmandu district of Nepal.
More precisely, this school is located in the upper part of the village, where the families live the poorest families of the city belonging to the lowest caste of the Hindu system : the Untouchables.
The school accommodates approximately 200 children, all from this environment. The older ones are forced to work part-time to help support the family and only go to class in the morning..

The construction project of 5 additional classrooms at Goraknath Secondary School opened in February 2010. Écoliers du Monde financed part of the new building, the equivalent of 2 classroom. Construction started in April 2010.
To teach in Nepal, it is not necessary for Nepalese teachers to have followed a specific training and/or higher education. It is in this context that the Ecoliers du Monde association sometimes intervenes to finance training for teachers in schools with recognized needs..
On the program in Kirtipur: pedagogical internship (Montessori method), physical education, music and science education.
Much of this teacher training took place after school..
In total, 60 hours of training were provided. Some training sessions were carried out directly with the children, during class.
After the synthesis and the follow-up carried out by the trainers, the results were very positive: good appropriation by teachers and good feedback from children and families.
This training made it possible to increase the motivation of the teaching staff and to improve the quality of the exchanges that we had about the learning of the children..
A training course in English from 90 hours was also provided by university professors.
A la suite, a young volunteer, Olivia, was sent on site for 3 months to help teachers put newly acquired knowledge into practice.
This has improved the level of children in this subject.
