Christmas market in JANVRY 91 Schoolchildren of the World Association
About once a year, volunteers from the association go to Nepal.
Going there regularly is essential to meet:
– children and possibly some families
– school leaders and teachers
– our relay person on site and the members of the Nepalese partner NGO
All this relational work is very important and allows us to forge close ties with the children and the school principals..
Thanks to these visits, it is possible for us to meet each sponsored child.
This is an opportunity to take stock and discuss their education, to hear from their family and detect any health or family problems that we could try to solve.
These meetings are real moments of exchange and sharing. The bonds deepen as the years go by.. For the older ones, we can also accompany them in the reflection concerning their orientation (choice of option and/or establishment).
It is the same with the directors of establishments in which our sponsored children are educated.. Meeting them allows us to weave over the years bonds of trust and mutual respect.. This is an opportunity to discuss the schooling and development of each child, to know the opinion of the teaching body and possibly to overcome together certain difficulties detected.
The financial aspect is also part of the discussions. In effect, you should know that in Nepal, many parameters determine the amount of tuition for each student: école, class level, child status (internal or external), transport, meal… And all this can be weighted according to the number of children sponsored by our association in each establishment..
Every year, the cost of tuition is therefore reviewed and is the subject of discussions always leading to an agreement.
The annual stay in Nepal is also an opportunity to take a more complete look at the progress of the collective project(s)., and possibly problems to solve.
In partnership with the local NGO, orientations are taken to carry out the project, for the purchase of materials as needed, and meetings with the various stakeholders or trades when it comes to construction are organized…
Going to the field allows you to better immerse yourself in the social fabric and thus better understand the needs and difficulties.
Discussions with the various partners can thus sometimes lead to new projects.. The relay person on site and the NGO have a good knowledge of the environment and thus make it easier “to open doors”.
All actions and all meetings are carried out in concert with the NGO and the contact person on site. This is very important and allows all partners to be at the same level of information..
The relay person is a central piece because, all year, it is she who is in contact with the directors and the children and who brings up the information collected, needs, even if it is of course possible for us to exchange directly with the establishments by email.
One of the missions assigned to volunteers going to Nepal is the purchase and shipment of local crafts for sales and Christmas markets in which the association participates in France..
It is a time-consuming action that requires a good knowledge of prices and a good address book.…
